Pre-premiere of Welcome Home, Brothers!

Summer screening in the garden

Although I don’t believe in coincidences, we came to this event by chance. Just before Jozef Hollý’s concert, the Belassi Garden caught the attention of someone from behind the scenes of the organisers of the new summer comedy about Slovaks in the Balkans, which was beginning a preview tour of Slovakia before it opened in cinemas. After a great concert and successful summer screenings under the stars, the co-producer and organizer of the nationwide tour, Juraj Brock, liked the idea of introducing the new film to his audience in our region under the “Belassi” sky, i.e. outside the traditional cinema halls. Since Prievidza and its surroundings is, among other things, the birthplace of director Peter Serge Butka, the idea took off. And we went for it.

Meeting with actors directly in Belassi Bojnice

After less than two weeks of express preparations in the middle of the peak summer season, it broke out. Cascade Garden filled, huge screen ready, weather settled, huge full moon and 9 stars on set. The comedy could start and indeed it started with the very first microphone switching on and the opening words of the film’s production team . And we were delighted that over 200 more spectators came to enjoy themselves.

After the screening, the discussion with the moderator Vojtech Bartek and the main participants of the film continued in the hotel restaurant, during which a small buffet was prepared. Also, the moderator, purely by chance, had personal experience of the bit of the county where the filming took place, which enabled him to steer the debate in the right direction. Experiences and experiences from filming in the Balkans, which the protagonists recalled, were often incredible and really as if they were tailor-made for the cinema screen.

Another event that was held in the spirit of cheerful mood, unrepeatable stories, experiences and a great bunch of people. If you attended, you know what I’m writing about, if not, make sure you don’t miss another one of our upcoming events. We will look forward to it.
